Karlenn Smith was trained in classical Cecchetti and Russian ballet from a young age, taught by two former professional ballet dancers, one from Ballet West, the professional dance company in Salt Lake City, UT. And the other from Marinsky Ballet in St. Petersburg, Russia. She was in the corps du ballet until she was 15, when she became the principal soloist in her local company, dancing as a guest with Ballet West as Spanish chocolate. Specializing in pointe, Pas de deux, grande allegro, and petite allegro, and frequently performing live with the local orchestra. Mrs. Smith attended college at BYO Provo, participating in their Theatre Ballet program. She was Creative Director of the ballet program at Eagle Rock Dance Academy in Idaho Fall, ID, where she taught intermediate and advanced ballet and pointe before moving to Bend two years ago. She has taught at two studios locally, teaching classes from Ballet I through Advanced Pointe. She is a mother of four kids and has her teaching degree in English, having taught middle school English for four years. She loves working with teens. She’s very excited to work with Ballet IV, Ballet V, Pre-Pointe, and Pointe I/II for the 2017-18 season.
